Originally from Cambridge, Alex moved to Birmingham to study with Mike Williams at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Co-leading his own quartet with pianist/keyboardist Huw Rees, his music cites influences as diverse as Konitz, Lovano and Hendersen, to Charles Ives and Nancarrow.

A graduate of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Alex has also sat in with the BBC Big Band and had his arrangement of Herbie Nicholls' The Gig performed by the band in a Conservatoire prize ceremony.
