Cobweb's new residence at the Old Joint Stock offers a brand new and unique environment for live jazz in Birmingham. This theatre seated gig offers the chance to hear bands in a quiet and comfortable setting.
The Old Joint Stock pub is situated opposite the Cathedral beside Colmore Row. Occupying an old Victorian bank, the building retains all its decorative splendour. Owned by Fullers brewery its own-brand draught only, but the pub boasts a good menu of pub-classics... 'legendary' pies as well, apparently. The spacious seated areas can become cramped for 'after-work drinks'.
The pub's 80-seat studio theatre was completed in October 2006, after a £350,000 investment from the brewery and now accommodates a packed program of drama, comedy and music events. Access is upstairs towards the rear of the pub. Away from the bustle of the bar the theatre boasts its own foyer space, cloak room and box office space.
The Old Joint Stock is set to become the premier venue for Cobweb Collective acts to perform. Nights are jointly run by Tom Chapman, Lydia Glanville and Tony Dudley-Evans.
