Along with Mary Wakelam and Sam Slater, Percy Pursglove founded the Cobweb Collective in 2006 to showcase the young emerging talent in Birmingham and to encourage dialouge between musicians on the scene. He set up the first resident night at Coffee Lounge.

A member of the award winning Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra since a young age, he rose through their education system from the junior training bands to their gigging ensemble. He was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has recorded in Maida Vale studios with the BBC Big Band. He is the winner of the Soloist prize at the BBC Big Band Comeption 2005 and the Starbucks Young Jazz Musician prize 2005.

Percy is one of the star players to graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire and the first to achieve a first class honours degree, doing so in 2003. Percy continued his studies at the New School of Music in Manhattan with trumpet legend Laurie Fink and played with such greats as the Duke Ellington Orchestra. On return from New York Percy took a place on the Conservatoire’s staff roster, as a first study tutor, small band coach, big band director and class lecturer.

His virtuosic Double Bass playing has made him a first call bassist, and provides bottom end with Frank Moon’s Desert Grooves, Yardbird Nonet and Paul Dunmall amongst others.
