Moving through flamenco, jazz, gypsy, hotclub, classical and film influences, the TG Collective is centered around two acoustic guitars of Jamie Fekete and Sam Slater, set alongside a core of double bass, flute and violin, and often growing to feature trumpets, percussion and flamenco dance, with new and interchanging shapes and sizes from gig to gig. TG Collective have also developed fine relationships with top Midland-based trumpeters, Ray Butcher and Bryan Corbett.
The ensemble have found themselves performing to a gathering fan base drawn in by their intense live performances and have performed live on BBC Radio Four's Loose Ends, with tracks being aired on BBC Radio Three, Four, Jazz FM, and various worldwide radio stations. Their debut album Who Ate All The Tapas? dropped in at No.4 in the Sunday Times' Records of the Year.
The previous twelve months have found newly reformed TG Collective at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France; Bilbao, Spain; Edinburgh to London and Cheltenham to Glasgow. The group sold out Birmingham's Glee Club for a new performance collaboration with eminent flamenco dancer and choreographer Ana Garcia.
The future finds TG Collective shaping new compositions and arrangements for the keenly awaited follow-up album to the critically acclaimed debut, released in spring 2008 and a tour opening at Cheltenham Jazz Festival in April. The Collective are also beginning work on a new suite of music by Bryan Lester, influenced by North Indian classical music, performed alongside tabla, percussion and sitar.
