The Polo sessions are a weekly Monday night event happening at the White Swan pub, just off Broad Street. Starting in November 2007 as it has become another opportunity for musicians to meet and play together and have been steadily increasing in popularity and attendance ever since.
Music starts at 9.30 and features a set from and up and coming Conservatoire band, followed by a jam session. The jam is possibly the most open in the city centre, a low-pressure alternative to the Yardbird Jazz Club. The atmosphere is laid back, relaxed and new faces are always welcome.
The Sessions are held in a stylish and spacious L shaped bar, furnished with large sofas and low dining tables. The White Swan also has a sizeable heated patio area. Drinks prices are cheap and meals and snacks are high quality. Entry is free.
The Polo Sessions were set up by drummer, promoter and Cobweb member Ben Kane and trumpeter Sam Wooster.
